June 2025- present

During my bachelor’s, I was attracted to transposable elements > sequences that jump across the genome driven by nothing but their own replication, much like the first replicators and decided to dive deeper by carrying out my internship studying the effect of Alu elements on DNA methylation. That experience sparked a broader curiosity about the non-coding genome, which led me to pursue my master’s at CINVESTAV, where I investigated the role of lncRNAs in 3D genome topology in plants and its evolutionary conservation.
After graduating, I joined the Bioinformatics and Complex Networks Lab, where I contributed to the visualization module of RevolutionH-tl, a tool for evolutionary analysis tasks. I am now a PhD student at the Evolutionary and Functional Genomics Lab at the Institute Botanic of Barcelona, where my project investigates chimeric gene-transposable element transcripts as drivers of transcriptomic and proteomic innovation across species, tissues, and environmental conditions.
