Gonzalo Sabarís

I am broadly interested in how molecular mechanisms drive evolutionary change, with a particular focus on the genetic and epigenetic regulation of gene expression. My research investigates the regulatory roles of non-coding DNA, chromatin architecture, and the establishment of stable epigenetic alleles, all within the framework of evolutionary adaptation. As a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellow in the González lab, I am carrying out an independent research program to uncover how small RNAs establish stable epigenetic alleles through a molecular process known as paramutation, using natural populations of Drosophila melanogaster as a model system.
