A nature enthusiast with a keen interest in arthropod evolution. After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Master’s degree in Genetics and Genomics at the University of Barcelona (UB), I completed my PhD in the Evolutionary Genomics & Bioinformatics research lab under the supervision of Dr Julio Rozas and Dr Sara Guirao-Rico. My thesis was grounded in comparative genomics, using spiders of the genus Dysdera as a model system to investigate the evolution of genome size and chemoreceptor gene families between continental and Canary Islands species. I am now a postdoctoral researcher in the González lab, where I apply comparative genomics methods (using genomic data and phenotypic traits) to detect putative signals of convergent evolution across the Drosophila phylogeny.
